چکیده

ABSTRACT Shoulder impingement syndrome and acromioclavicular joint osteoarthritis often occur simultaneously and easily missed. Kay et al. reported excellent results with combined arthroscopic subacromial decompression and resection of the distal end of the clavicle in patients with both disorders(1). Arthroscopic treatment of these disorders produces more favourable results than open procedures. We report two patients who were not responding to conservative management and were treated with direct arthroscopic distal clavicle excision and subacromial decompression in single setting. Both patients gained good postoperative outcome in terms of pain score, function and strength improvement assessed objectively with visual analogue score (VAS) and University of California Los Angeles Score (UCLA). KEY WORDS Acromioclavicular joint arthritis, distal clavicle excision, Arthroscopy, Mumford operation.

Arthroscopic Management of Shoulder Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis (OA) can cause severe pain and dysfunction of the shoulder. When conservative treatment fails and operative treatments such as shoulder arthroplasty and open glenohumeral resurfacing are not advisable, shoulder arthroscopy may be used to treat shoulder OA. Arthroscopic treatment of concomitant pathology in the shoulder including subacromial decompression, labral repair, capsular ...

Subacromial osteochondroma.

The most common cause of impingement syndrome is mechanical irritation of the subacromial bursa and rotator cuff by the coracoacromial arch. Offending structures include the undersurface of the anterolateral acromion, coracoacromial ligament, and the undersurface of the distal clavicle. We present a case of impingement syndrome caused by mechanical irritation of the rotator cuff by a subacromia...

Pseudoaneurysm after arthroscopic subacromial decompression and distal clavicle excision.

Arthroscopic shoulder surgery is considered a safe and effective method of treating a variety of shoulder pathologies and is associated with a low complication rate. The type and rate of complications can vary, depending on the procedure, positioning, surgical time, and anesthesia. Fortunately, neurovascular injuries occur infrequently. Numerous studies have described the proximity of neurovasc...

Arthroscopic decompression of the suprascapular nerve at the spinoglenoid notch and suprascapular notch through the subacromial space.

Suprascapular nerve entrapment can cause disabling shoulder pain. Suprascapular nerve release is often performed for compression neuropathy and to release pressure on the nerve associated with arthroscopic labral repair. This report describes a novel all-arthroscopic technique for decompression of the suprascapular nerve at the suprascapular notch or spinoglenoid notch through a subacromial app...

Arthroscopic Decompression in the Management of Subacromial Impingement Syndrome

Background: Open acromioplasty has classically been described as a method of treatment for subacromial shoulder impingement syndrome. However, the arthroscopic method of management has also recently gained wide popularity. Objective: The aim of this work was to present clinical outcome of arthroscopic decompression in the management of subacromial shoulder impingement syndrome. Study Design: A ...
